To La Jit To Quit

Before I tell about the billions of pics I just posted I first need to vent about my cooking skills (or lack there of) I decided to by a turkey cause they are so dang cheap around Thanksgiving. It wasn't one of my food assingments to bring for our dinner, but I just wanted to try making on for Nate and I. We just ate it a few hours ago and lets just say my throat will never be the same. For some reason by whole house smelled like a giant pretzel while it was cooking (don't ask me why!) I totally over cooked it...the stuff I used to make it moist formed this thick tar looking film on the bottom of my pan. It was so dry and nasty that it hurt to even swallow it. I have offically decided that I hate cooking and I will never be good at it. Nate tried to explain to me that cooking is a lot like sports, you can't just expect to be good..you have to practice and love it. Well I practice, I still suck, and I hate it :) Not to mention that I own over 25 cookbooks and the most outrageously expensive pots & pans ever...I keep buying these things thinking it will help and NOPE! If I ever become rich then the first thing I would do with my money is hire a full time chef so I never have to cook again. And if I ever become filthy rich, then I might even hire someone to feed me while I lay on my love sac. JK

Our Thanksgiving tradition is to run the Mesa 10 K Turkey Trot every year on Thanksgivng morning. We have LOVED doing this because you feel better about stuffing yourself crazy later in the day. It was so amazing to run together has a whole little family. We loved having Kade there. He did great! We forced a bottle down his mouth right before the race started so he would be content the whole time. He was cracking me up in those sweet shades. Nate and I made a mistake by wearing our awesome, matching running tights because it ended up being about 80 degrees and I was DYING of heat. Thank goodness Nate ran with me the whole time. I def held him back! We didn't walk at all but it still took us an hour and two min to finish. Not the best time for us, but I was just glad to start getting back into running. I would've taken longer if Nate didn't hang around me to drag my bum along!

GILBERT DAYS...
I absolutly love rodeos and carnivals! The town of Gilbert, where we live, has "Gilbert Days" every November. They have all sorts of events going on all week. We went with the Williamsons and had a great time

There is something about going on a 'Carni' ride that I just can't get enough of! You never know if the ride is going to totally fall apart or not because those rusty ole rides are taken apart...moved around... and hastely put back together all year long. It makes it that much more exciting for some freakish reason. I love all roller coasters and any ride. Kade loved looking at all the bright lights and noises.

Getting ready for Christmas...
I can't get enough of the Holidays. I love everything about this season. The smells, the music, eating other peoples baked goods, giving presents (yes, and getting), parties with friends and family, an excuse to drink endless ammounts of hot chocolate, and the fun traditions that we do every year. I love to kick off the season with a little Black Friday action. Shopping is a favorite hobby of mine, and especially the thought of getting a good deal. For the lack of brain cells I have right now because it's 11:30 pm on a Sunday night with no nap..and after torchering myself in the kitchen today...I won't get into all my funny/crazy black friday stories. But I did get most all my shopping done. And Nate and I got SWEET deals on bikes and a bike trailer for Kade. Yes, we have already ridden our bikes because we are like little kids and couldn't wait. I already wrecked on mine trying to show off.

Wishing you all a great start to the Holiday Season...Hope it's a good one!

Any Ideas?

My spoiled child :) It is so funny how a for a few days Kade will nap like a champion, and then somedays you can't even set him down with out him having a scream fest. This was one of those need to be loved on all day days...I do love that Kade loves to be held and cuddled a lot. But I may need a little advice. Do you think it's possible to have a good sleeping baby that is not on a schedule? I read all those books about sleeping habits, and they just don't really work for me because I can't get him to bed the same time every night.  I am playing soccer again. Sometimes I have games 3 times a week and we don't even get home till 11 o'clock. So the lack of schedule may be what is throwing him off? I guess I am trying to teach him to be a flexiable baby! We still have tears every night before bed the second I put him in his crib. I don't know if I am doing it wrong because I have heard that the crying gets less and less over time and eventually they stop. His crying is getting longer and louder almost every night. I do go in there like every 5 min to try to help him calm down without picking him up. I put his binki back in and somtimes it helps a little. Last night I had a late game and he was screaming so long. I tried to distract myslef in the other room by eating leftover Halloween candy. It was dumb Crunch bars and I don't even like them! Talk about emotional eating. I better get him sleeping soon or I am going to look prego forever :)!!! I felf so bad, so I gave in a picked up because he wasn't calming down at all. His poor pj's were wet with sweat from crying so hard. Kade really is such a happy baby when he is rested and full. He is smiling all the time now. He just started laughing and it melts my heart. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much at him. He cracks me up all the time....BUT we really still aren't good sleepers. Once I finally get him down (it's like an hour process every night at least) then he does do great at going back to sleep after the night feeds. Does anyone have any tips to help with naps and bedtime? Do I need to just let him cry a little longer without going in? It's so sad, but I feel I really need to teach him to sleep now because he's happier when he's rested. Also, he is a cat napper and I don't know how to get him to take better naps.

Kade plays with his friend 'Cherry Girl' every morning while I eat breakfast. :) Kade is our little mascot on my Thursday night indoor soccer Co-ed team. I love this team because other players have kids so it's like a big family. We have all played together for the 3 years I've lived here and it's fun to see their kids grow up. Sometimes Nate works Thursday nights so Kade has to sit in the little indoor dugout with the team. They are nice to hold him for me while I am in. Whoever is the sub takes care of all the babies. Last night some of the Mom's who don't play, and are nice to watch the kids, were at New Moon (I was so jealous, but didn't want to miss my game) so the subs had about 5 kids to juggle. I had Liberty and Kade on my knee trying to keep them happy. I just LOVE little Liberty but she was sad the her dad was playing and wanted to be out there with him. Last week Kade has his first header. It was VERY sad. The ball took a deflection and got him on the back of the head/sholder. Luckily it scared him more than anything and didn't get him hard. I had to come out of the game to calm him down and he was just fine. I think he was just trying to get involved in the action. 3 months is a little early for that.

This was our little family recent fishing trip.  Kade wasn't a big fan of fishing qutie yet. He doesn't like the sun in his eyes. We were smart and didn't try camping this time and just made it a day trip. Nate liked having his whole family out with him. We just need to teach Kade not to cry while we are on the boat and scare all the fish away.

Playing with one of his favorite toys. I love that he is so interested in toys now. And suprise, surprise...he can't get enough of stuffed animals. I wonder who forced that upon him :)

Wednesday Night Adventure:
Lets just say Nate told me this riviled among one of my top 10 worst ideas.
Wednesday I was on a reading kick and read my book most of the day. By 4 o'clock I felt so lazy and wanted to get out of the house. I told Nate we should take a walk to Sonic and eat ice cream, and then walk back. He told me that it would be a really long walk and I didn't believe him that it would be that bad. I pushed, and pushed the issue and he agreed to do it if I really wanted to. I got Kade dressed up into is new monkey beenie and shades... and thank goodnes I put that beenie on him because little did I know we wouldn't be back for over 3 and a half hours! It was pitch dark and cold by the time we got to sonic. The sidewalk didn't line the road the whole way there, so we had to push the stroller along the rocks and dirt. It was over 4 miles just to get there! After we ate we sat on the benches for a while because I was dreading walking all the way home. I am a dingle. I guess I need to learn that to realize that I am  not always right......NAAA! Kade got sick of being in the stroller and was starving on the way home. So I carried him in the frontpack (luckily it was under the stroller basket) and Nate pushed the empty stroller. Hopefully we burned that Ice Cream off during our 8 mile walk. We like to go on daily walks to get some fresh air and we really enjoy that time together...but let's just say we probably won't be walking to Sonic anytime soon.

Halloween!

Our chunker has a bit of a large head. Grandma Davis brought him this beenie and he wasn't a fan of us trying to squeeze it over his head!

Kade dressed up for Halloween like 4 different times, and in a different costume each time. I love dressing up more than anything! So Halloween is such a great Holiday in my book. Unfortuantly, because of the blessing we weren't to focused on Halloween for Nate and I this year. This cat outfit was acutally my little brother, Marks, when he was a baby. He got the nickname "Fat Cat" after wearing it, and we all called him that for years becasue of it. I am so glad my mom saved it. It was so funny to see Kade in it. He kinda looked like a Bat in it though :) Kade was also a Monkey and he wore that a couple times during the week (I think Halloween should be all week long) For our pumpkin carving party, he had to be a pumpkin of course!

This wasn't a Halloween pic, just thought it was cute :) And sorry to all you Facebook friends out there who have already seen some of these pics. A lot of the pictures I put on there are the same as my blog.

This is Kade's new favortie toy! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to yard sale. The other weekend they had a communtiy garage sale so tons of houses had one. One street could have six sales. I was truly in heaven. There is nothing better than getting a good deal. Kathy and Hedi found this for me because we went to differnt sales and I was on the hunt for a bouncer.  Yes, Kade has the Davis gene in him and is to short for it. But he is a storng little man and his legs are getting buff from the bouncing!

Nate likes to teese Kade and tell him he is storing nuts in his cheeks for the winter :) I can't believe how big he is getting! He seems so grown up and can do so many new things. He loves to hit and hold on to toys now. He tries to talk all the time. And giggles a lot too. Kade would rather stand than sit or lay. He loves when you hold his arms so he can stand up. He thinks he is so big and gets this proud look on his face. I think he is as competitive as his mom!

PS. Can someone explain how to change my blog list so that I can see when others update? Thanks!

Kade's Blessing

We had such a great weekend last week. We blessed Kade on Nov. 1st. I picked kind of a tough weekend it being the day after Halloween and we have 8 o'clock church. But I am glad to say that we did make it on time, barley! We had some drama getting a blessing outfit. Nate and I picked one that we liked, but it was very casual and borderline looking like pajamas. So my mom and Brandi went to look at a store in American Fork for one because we weren't having much luck here. My mom brought one down, they flew into AZ Friday night. I didn't even bother to try it on him because I thought it looked really cute..at least on the hanger. Saturday was fun...we took Kade to the park, my mom played with him on a blanket and Nate, my dad and I played some soccer and Frisbee. We went on a walk, watched some football, and got the food ready for the brunch after his blessing. Later in the evening we finally tried the outfit on him to see which shoes would look best. I was dying...he looked like a pilgrim in it! You know in second grade when you celebrate Thanksgiving and half the class dresses like a pilgrim, and the other half Indians.....well Kade really did look like a pilgrim. The collar looked funny on him and the shorts looked like old school cool'lots! My mom and I rushed to North Mesa to a Boutique. It was our last hope to find something. The place was about to close when we got there and the worker lady was floored that the blessing was tomorrow and we didn't have anything yet. I guess the lady just doesn't know the way I roll. We got the little shorts/tux outfit. It was the best choice by far. It was kinda shinny, but he looked like a little gentleman in it so we liked it. Sunday was great. Nate did an AMAZING job on the blessing. I was so proud of him. It was very emotional for me. I love both my boys more than anything in this world. I am so glad we can be a family forever. I can't believe I am so blessed to have this little spirit be my son. Yes, I am more tired than I have ever been in my life. Yes, I am in the worst shape of my life and feel like I am going to die after my soccer games. Yes, my lifestyle has changed so much and I am not able to be as carefree and active. But every bit of it is truly worth it. I love this baby Kade so much and he is my pride and joy. We were grateful that my parents were able to come to the blessing. And that Nate's could be there too. None of our brothers were able to make it, so we were also so grateful for the friends we have made down here that were able to come and support us on that day.
